Most Frequent

It is recommended that you book your rental at least 1 week before your trip. This will allow us to deliver to your home. However, we can arrange overnight or same day delivery in some major cities. You can contact us via chat.

You choose the days you want to use the router, from the day you arrive at your destination to the day you leave.
We will deliver it to you between 3 and 5 days before your trip. If you need it earlier, you can specify the delivery date at checkout.

The router is automatically activated on the reserved date and for the selected destination. You will not have Internet access before the rental period.
However, you can switch on the router and connect the Wi-Fi devices before your trip and they will remain connected to the router for the duration of your trip.

3 days before the end of your trip we will email you the return instructions, which may vary from country to country. We will usually send you a return label so that you can send it back by post. In some countries we also have drop-off points at airports and local offices.

No. MIOWIFI works with the local mobile networks of each country. It is not a satellite. It is therefore necessary that in the place where you travel there is a signal from the cellular antennas of the local operators.

The Rental option is the most recommended for tourist travellers. With the rental option, you must return the router at the end of your trip. Internet service is included in the price.

The Purchase option is recommended for frequent travellers and does not include Internet service, so you will need to activate the router each time you travel from your MIOWIFI.com account.
Purchase is recommended for companies with travelling executives or for families who travel frequently throughout the year. By purchasing the router, you save on shipping and return costs and you save USD 1 for each day of use.

The rental does not include any insurance against theft, damage or loss of the router.
In any case, the credit card you paid with the rental will remain as a guarantee for the value of the router, which is 200USD. The guarantee will only be executed in the event of an emergency, otherwise you will not see the money deducted from your credit card.

MIOWIFI will always strive for you to have the best buying and using experience. However, if a problem occurs with the delivery, due to the mail, or if you have a connection problem that we cannot solve, we will refund the partial or total money of the order in accordance with our refund and return policy.

MIOWIFI does not allow voice calls over cellular networks, but it does allow VoIP calls using applications such as Whatsapp, Facetime, Skype, Viber, etc. over data networks.

MIOWIFI does not allow regular SMS / MMS over cellular networks, but it does allow messaging through applications such as Whatsapp, Skype, Viber, GoogleChat, MSN, etc. over data networks.

Coverage

You only need to rent one router. If you are traveling to multiple countries, just check that the countries are covered by MIOWIFI and the same Global Hot Spot will work seamlessly in all countries.

Your MIOWIFI should not be used outside its intended destination and may incur extra charges.
Please contact us in advance if you intend to do so.

To test the device before your trip, you can switch it on and connect it to the devices, but you’ll only have Internet access from the start date of the rental until the end date of the rental.

MIOWIFI works with the largest network operators in the world to ensure that you always have the best and fastest connections available.
While in “populated” areas, such as big cities, there will always be a good quality connection, when you travel to rural or uninhabited areas, such as the mountains or very small towns, the signal could be poor or none, due to bad local network operator infrasestructure.
In this case, please contact us before renting a router to give you recommendations.

In general, the better the signal in your area (indicated by more bars), the faster the connection speed should be.

While MIOWIFI provides excellent coverage on land, coverage at sea depends on the distance out at sea and the location of the cruise – the closer to land, the more likely there will be coverage. The best thing to do is to ask the cruise line if there is mobile data (4G) coverage on the cruise. In any case, there will be coverage while docked.

Not necessarily – cell phones work on a different network than routers, so the two will not connect to the same signal. This is because the router connects to data networks like 3G or 4G. Cell phones, on the other hand, connect to cellular networks. Because cellular networks have been around a lot longer than data networks, coverage is much better, especially in rural areas. For this reason, you may be able to make calls but not connect to the Internet in a rural area.

In the rare event that there is no cellular signal at your location, and you won’t be traveling to another location where there may be cellular signal, you can cancel your rental with no cancellation fee. However, the refund policy will apply.
We recommend that you check the 3G or 4G network availability at your destination before renting a MIOWIFI.

Delivery

It is recommended that you book your rental at least 1 week before your trip. This will allow us to deliver to your home. However, we can arrange overnight or same day delivery in some major cities. You can contact us via chat.

Normally we send the MIOWIFI to your address 5 days before the rental starts. However, we also have next day or same day delivery options and office or airport pickup available, depending on the country.

Please note that for deliveries to non-EU countries (e.g. Switzerland, Norway etc.) or countries other than Argentina and Mexico, any duties or customs fees will be charged back to you.

Normally your MIOWIFI is guaranteed to be delivered 2-5 working days before your chosen rental start date.

However, you can select the desired delivery date at checkout if you are traveling before these dates.

MIOWIFI has fast delivery alternatives on each rental country, such as next day, same day and airport or office pickup.
Please contact us to confirm availability via chat before you rent.

If the information in your shipping address prevents your device from being delivered, you will be contacted by the delivery service (e.g., FedEx, Correos Express) on the first delivery attempt.
Any re-delivery charges will be billed to you.
In addition, if you request a change to the shipping address after we’ve already shipped your device, a small fee will be charged.

If you would like to ship to a country not listed on our website, or if you have special delivery requirements, please contact us before making your booking so that we can make the necessary arrangements.

Return

3 days before the end of your trip we will email you the return instructions, which may vary from country to country. We will usually send you a return label so that you can send it back by post. In some countries we also have drop-off points at airports and local offices.

If you’re organizing your own return, most people choose a tracked and signed shipping method (e.g. FedEx, or DHL) when sending their MIOWIFI back to us, which guarantees that the device won’t get lost. If you need any assistance or recommendations for shipping services, please do not hesitate to contact us. We’ll be happy to help.

In order to make sure that your MIOWIFI finds its way to the next user in time, it’s important that you help us by returning it as soon as possible. Therefore, we kindly ask you to post your return package no later than 3 days after the end of your rental period.
We’ll be flexible if this is a problem for you, but please contact us beforehand so we can register it and not charge you extra costs.

If you shipped with the mailing label and instructions sent by us, we are responsible to track the router.
If you send it by your own, you are responsible for the safe and timely return of the MIOWIFI. For this reason, we always recommend using a trackable return method.

Placing an order

If you want to change your rental dates or delivery details after you have placed your order, you can of course do so. Simply contact us and we’ll make the necessary arrangements.

Yes, all you need to do is contact us and we will make the necessary arrangements.

Once your order is confirmed, you will receive emails and/or Whatspapp messages with important information regarding your rental, such as the status of your order, shipment tracking, and return instructions.

For this reason, please make sure that the email and phone number you provide during checkout are correct. If necessary, you can contact us and provide an alternate email address after placing your order.

You can cancel your rental at any time with no cancellation fee. If your device has already been shipped, we will not be able to refund shipping costs. We also cannot refund days of use on the equipment. If you already have the equipment, you must return it to us immediately. We will provide you with return instructions.

Billing

Depending on the billing country you select when placing your order, you will be billed in either Argentine Pesos (ARS), US Dollars (USD) or Euros (UER).

If your bank account is in a different currency, your bank may charge you an exchange fee.

MIOWIFI accepts credit card payments from the following providers; Visa & Mastercard (debit and credit) and American Express.
Paypal (Mexico) and Mercado Pago (Argentina) are also accepted.

You will be charged immediately after you place your order. The charge will appear on your bank account from “MIOWIFI”.

MIOWIFI does not charge a guarantee deposit for orders placed by credit card on the official MIOWIFI website. We only use a retention order that will be released once the device is returned. No charge will appear on your bank account.

Yes, all prices on the website include sales tax.

Yes, you can. MIOWIFI will generate the invoice according to the local billing rules.

Usage

The router is automatically activated on the reserved date and for the selected destination. You will not have Internet access before the rental period.

Long press the power button for 3

You can charge your router with a standard USB connection from a wall charger, car charger, battery pack, or laptop.

MIOWIFI R10 supports both 5GHz and 2.4GHz.
The default setting is 2.4GHz.
You can adjust the WiFi frequency band of our device from 2.4GHz to 5GHz to have a faster connection.
Please open this link on your mobile phone http://192.168.1.1 when connecting MIOWIFI, and adjust the WiFi frequency manually.
If you need more help, please contact us.

You should switch your mobile phone to airplane mode or you can also disable roaming data of your mobile phone configuration to avoid using roaming data when not connected to MIOWIFI.

Data Usage

Yes. MIOWIFI on rental option, use speed reduction policy (throttling) after the first 500MB of daily consumption. After that consumption, the speed could be reduced to 3G.

However, there are countries like Mexico, USA, Canada, UK, France where throttling does not apply. Check Technical specs for each country.

So we recommend limiting video usage, and disabling apps such as iCloud, Google Photo, Dropbox, which sync high volumes of data in the background. This will avoid unwanted high-speed data usage and improve the user experience.

You can check your data consumption from the screen of your MIOWIFI. The consumption shown is daily.

General reference data usage for smpartphone is the following

On mobile networks, a WhatsApp video call uses between 0.5 and 1.5 MB per minute in standard quality (SD) and between 1.5 and 4.5 MB per minute in high quality (HD).

There are a number of factors that can contribute to rapid data usage.

The main way to use a lot of data quickly is to download or stream audio/video (e.g. Spotify, Netflix, P2P); this can easily result in data usage of over 100MB in 15 minutes. For reference, a standard definition movie is typically around 700MB.

In addition, certain programs use data in the background without giving you any indication that they are doing so. For example, system updates are usually downloaded and installed automatically without prompting. Backup software (such as iCloud, Dropbox, and GoogleDrive) will consume data continuously throughout the day – in fact, most Mac / iOS devices come pre-configured with a backup feature always enabled. Other programs, such as Whatsapp and other chat clients, will also contribute to data usage if left on continuously. Finally, be wary of email clients such as Outlook and Entourage, which constantly download both emails and attachments.

Remember that any data usage is amplified when the connection is shared between multiple devices or people, so even “normal” activities such as web browsing will use more data when multiple devices are connected at the same time. For this reason, we recommend that you share the above information with anyone who will be using the pocket wifi with you!

So if you are ever less than 100% satisfied, please contact us as soon as possible. A customer service representative will get back to you within an hour (usually 30 minutes). Sometimes that person will need to ask you a few more questions to make sure the right issue is being addressed. We’ll do everything we can to find a solution that doesn’t take up more of your time than necessary. We’ll most likely be able to fix your problem remotely, otherwise we’ll send you a replacement unit if possible.

If for some reason we can’t fix the problem (or you don’t want a replacement unit), we’ll give you a credit for your next trip or refund your money according to our refund policy. It’s your choice!
